On June 25, 2021, the grand opening of the Shchukinskaya MCD2 bus stop and the updated transport interchange hub took place.
“We are continuing the reconstruction of existing and construction of new tracks for railways, which include the Moscow transport hub, as well as large-scale reconstruction and construction of new city railway stations. This year, according to the plan, 11 of them should be built, 5 of them have already been built,” Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said at the grand opening.
The opening of the station will improve transport services for about 170 thousand Muscovites-residents of the Shchukino and Pokrovskoye-Streshnevo districts. 49 thousand people live within walking distance from the station.
The total area of the Shchukinskaya station is 6.2 thousand square meters.
It includes a Z-shaped passenger terminal and an island platform with a weather shelter. In addition, it is built on the principles of a barrier – free environment-there are 6 escalators and 3 elevators.
The company “Spetssetstroy” LLC took part in this project, carrying out construction and installation works.
